The Beast and the Bucket List

The Beast and the Bucket List

I have started putting together a bucket list. I figure I better get started because there are going to be a lot of things on that list, and it’s going to take me awhile to do them all. Besides I keep adding things, so the list just keeps getting longer.

But this isn’t just a regular bucket list where I want to do something, and then I go out and do it. This is a battle between me and the Beast, and I am keeping score!

I have already accomplished a few.

River Rafting : Me – one, the Beast – zero.

Hiking Lava Fields (near Bend, Oregon) : Me – two, the Beast – zero.

I am going to The Daytona Racetrack In a few weeks, gonna strap on a helmet, and climb into a race car. Then a professional driver is going to take me on to the track. Haha, you didn’t think they were just going to hand me a car and say “go ahead, try a few laps”. But I am going to experience 140 mph. Yes!!

I always wanted to be a race car driver when I was younger. I’m a little late to the party, but better late than never!

We will see if I can keep the Beast out of the car. I think those cars only seat two, so no room for the Beast. I feel so bad for him I could cry… NOT. Maybe I can just leave him behind on the race track.

Making plans with my friend, Hillary, to go to Trapeze Class with her. Always wanted to “fly through the air with the greatest of ease”…and then I’ll be “that daring old broad on the flying trapeze!” Note: I have adjusted the lyrics to fit the fact that at my age I am going to try this, not withstanding the fact that I have had Parkinson’s for 15 years. Stay tuned, I will let you know how that one turns out.

Never wanted to jump out of a plane so that is something I will not be putting on my Beat the Beast Bucket List. Wait a minute, maybe I should put it on my list and pretend that I am going to go skydiving. The Beast will naturally tag along. Then when we reach the right altitude, the doors will open up…and while we are standing there looking down at the earth below us, I will just give him a little shove, wave goodbye, shut the door and have a seat.

Now let’s see what else have I been wanting to do…
